336
of the dining room. Replacement Windows, inserts or tilt backs are
337
of high quality in wood without aluminum clad and double pane:
338
Neither interior nor exterior storm windows are required for this
339
solution. My view, they meet the essential criteria of sustainability
340
and authenticity to address my window problem. So, why I am
341
applying for this? Well, I think that the windows cannot be
342
restored in-situ as the staff report says. They have to be taken out,
343
they have to be repaired while we are exposed to bad weather and
344
moved in again. There are, I think, in our discussions three options
345
we have examined but none of them is acceptable. The first option
346
is to install a second glass on the restored single pane windows.
347
This is not possible because the size of my windows is too big and
348
the strength of the windows would be impaired severely. But
349
second option is interior storm windows. They could be installed,
350
technically speaking, yes. But this decision is at the discretion of
351
the owner and I don't want interior storm windows because they
352
substantially impair the aesthetics of the dining room and need to
353
be removed and re -installed in spring and fall respectively; hence
354
reducing my quality of life. Third, the third option is exterior storm
'355
windows, but they are technically not feasible in the bay area.
356
Moreover, they would harm the current historic aesthetics of the
357
exterior of the area. Furthermore, my house never had, never had,
358
exterior storm windows. How, then, could the Historic
359
Preservation Commission require install something new that is
360
alien to my historic house. Because none of these three options is
361
acceptable and no other proposal was offered by the Commission, l
362
can not but ask for the proposed four Marvin windows replacement
363
windows. I think that this solution does the least harm to the
364
existing structure of my house. Thank you.
365 Lynn Patrick:
I'd like to ask, if may, is that a prepared statement that you have
366
just read?
367 Georges Enderle:
Prepared?
368 Lynn Patrick:
Yes, what you just read us, did you have it all written out in
369
advance?
370 Georges Enderle: Well, its some remarks, I can give it later on.
371 Lynn Patrick: I am wondering if that would be helpful since the person who is
372 going to be typing up the minutes, if you had a copy, we could
373 include with the materials, it would make it easier when she goes
374 to type up the minutes.
375 Georges Enderle: I will send it.
11
