CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL: President Tim Klusczinski called to order at 7:04 pm II. PUBLIC HEARING Application Number: 2007 -0705 Property Location: 1512 E Wayne Street Property Owner: Sally Bostick Landmark or District Designation: E. Wayne Street Rating: Contributing STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE/HISTORIC CONTEXT: This Renaissance Revival was built in 1926. The first owner was Guy De Rhodes of DeRhodes- Yerrick Motor Company, a dealership for Dodge Brothers located at 222 N. Lafayette. Mr. De Rhodes used it as a rental property in the 1930s until its sale to Donald Adair in 1940. It has had about a dozen owner - occupants since 1940 and is currently owned by Sally Bostick, APPLICATION ITEMS: The owner wishes to erect a wood lattice fence along the east side of her house. It will be accessed at the rear of the house by a gate. Another fence will be erected on the west side between the house and garage. It will also have a gate. STANDARDS FOR EAST WAYNE STREET: B. Building site, Landscaping and accessories: Required: Major landscaping items, fencing, walkways, private yard lights, signs (house numbers) and benches which reflect the property's history and development shall be retained. Dominant land contours shall be retained. Structures such as gazebos, patio decks, fixed barbecue pits, swimming pools, tennis courts, greenhouses, new walls, fountains, fixed garden furniture, trellises and other similar structures shall be compatible to the historic character of the site and neighborhood and inconspicuous when viewed from the public walkway. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. The fence will be low, obscured from view from the street by shrubbery and trees. The style of the fence is sympathetic to the architecture of the house Klusczinsld: Is the petitioner present? Bostick: Yes.
