I have now studied the complex issue for two months
and discuss it with specialists, particularly Mr. Wayne Doolittle, Mr. Richard Guntle, and Mr. Bill
Alwine (Home Depot). I wanted to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of the two
options of restoration and replacement in order to find the best solution.
The restoration approach includes:
- removing window and glass;
- repairing window and replacing glass;
- repairing window frame;
- placing repaired window;
- placing storm windows.
The replacement approach includes:
- removing window (with glass);
- installing replacement window.
Please find enclosed information about both options.
The cost estimate for restoring a window of 35" X 87" is:
- Combo windows: full screen, removable glass inserts:
- Delivery and installation:
- Reparation and installation of window
- Reparation of window frame
Total
$200.00
$120.00
$150.00
$130.00
$600.00
The cost estimate for replacing a window of #7" X 86" is:
- Single unit replacement window (see appendix) $575.00
- Installation $125.00
Total $700.00
