Resolution included in minutes from printed copy submitted by <br />Commissioner Klusczinski. <br />A Resolution of the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />in response to the recent South Bend Park Department budget proposal that has threatened the <br />"Potawatomi Greenhouses and the Ella -Morris and Muessel-Ellison Botanical Conservatories," their <br />botanical examples, collections, and their benefit to the City of South Bend. <br />Whereas the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County, Indiana <br />convened on September 18, 2006 for its regular meeting in the 4`f' floor Council Chambers; County - <br />City Building <br />Now therefore, be it resolved, that the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana as follows: <br />Section 1. That the City of South Bend and the Department of Parks and Recreation reconsider the <br />dismantling of the Greenhouses and the Lord and Burnham Conservatories located in Potawatomi <br />Park; <br />Section 2. That the City of South Bend and the Department of Parks and Recreation convene a round <br />table of specialists in the fields of heating and horticulture to determine any reasonable and economic <br />methods available to save these structures and their exhibits; <br />Section 3. That the City of South Bend and the Department of Parks and Recreation organize groups <br />of volunteers to serve in the various capacities needed to keep the Conservatories in operation and <br />open to the public; <br />Section 4. That the City of South Bend and the Department of Parks and Recreation explore other <br />avenues of fund raising, and that the admission fee of the complex be evaluated; <br />Section 5. That the City of South Bend and the Department of Parks and Recreation study the <br />detrimental impact to tourism, market appeal, and education; <br />Section 6.
