"Six at Risk"
Proposal: To create a list for publication of the 6 most endangered sites in South
Bend/St. Joseph County. To raise awareness of the need to rescue
certain sites, and to publicize what resources are available to those
that might want to purchase a site or sites in a Local Historic District.
The list shall include a mix of residential and commercial sites if
appropriate. Publicity should also include "Success Stories of Saved
Sites."
Create press release and provide photos and other relevant
information to interested news agencies.
Sites already suggested:
- Camp Rose Historic Neighborhood
- The Jefferson Apartments (next to the old Indiana Club)
- The Rushton
- St. Paul's Memorial Methodist Church (Studebaker's church)
- The Burke Building
- Studebaker Administration Building
Please note that the inclusion of a property on the list is not in any way a criticism of
any present efforts to market that property, but is instead an attempt to assist in
those efforts by bringing greater attention to the plight of sites and structures in the
area.
Site Suggestion(s) and Why?:
Commissioner's Name:
