CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL: Lynn Patrick called the meeting to order at 7:32 pm <br />H. PUBLIC HEARING <br />A. CERTIFICATES OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Shawn Peterson [Counsel] and Catherine Hostetler point out to the Commission that there will <br />be an amended agenda for tonight's meeting to include the C&A 2006-0615A The Burke <br />Building. An amended agenda was not printed, but Catherine Hostetler reminds the <br />Commissioners that they received a copy of the new CoA in the mail. Lynn Patrick confirms that <br />she did receive said by mail. <br />Todd Zeiger moves to accept the amended agenda to include CoA 2006-0615A, Gerald Ujdak <br />seconds and the motion carries unanimously. The Commission will hear said CoA. <br />1.2006-0606: 811 Leland Avenue <br />The Chair recognized Catherine Hostetler to read the Staff Report. <br />STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCEMISTORIC CONTEXT: This Free Classic/Queen .Anne home <br />was built around 1904. Edwin and Mary Smith were the first residents; and Mary continued to live there <br />as a widow, using it as a boarding house until 1910. From 1912 to 1930 Phero C. Fergus lived there. It is <br />currently owned by Susan and Victor Butcher. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Vinyl side the house with Georgia Pacific panel .40 gauge, fir out openings <br />around openings to maintain proper reveal with 1/4" pine (lby)/.23 gauge coil stock.. They want the vinyl <br />for easy maintenance as they are getting older. They did not have the resources to finish the project <br />between May 2002-2004 under the building permit dated 5/22/02. Work to be completed by September <br />1, 2006. <br />CHAPIN PARK GUIDELINES: II Existing Structures A. Building Materials <br />Required: Original exterior building materials shall be retained when possible ... The existing <br />architectural detail around windows, porches, doors and eaves shall be retained or replaced by replicas of <br />the same design when deteriorated beyond repair. <br />Recommended: Whenever possible, the original building materials should be restored. When <br />maintaining or repairing original siding is not feasible, aluminum, vinyl or composite siding may be used. <br />When used over wood surfaces, this siding should be the same size and style as the original wood. Every <br />effort should be made to retain the original trim around windows, doors, cornices, gables, eaves and other <br />architectural features. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Mr. Butcher received a building permit on May 22, 2002 to apply siding to his home. The siding was not <br />installed and the permit has expired. The house is now part of the Chapin Park Local Historic District and <br />at the time of designation, March 14, 2005, the house appeared as it does today, a wood clap -board sided <br />
