Such commitment to continuity has often been at odds with the <br />growth and progressive nature of both Santa R and much of the continental United <br />" . <br />States where issues are framed by conflict, negotiation, and adaptation. This place is a unique <br />environment to consider the theme "Many Histories, Many Publics --- Common Ground ? °'' <br />As public historians we support the belief that there is value in the discipline of history and- <br />in the application of the discipline for a wide range of audiences.
