JOANN SPORLEDER: I will make a motion that we begin an interim protection for as
long as a period as we can manage and then at the same time initiate the proceedings to
make this barn at 16977 Adams Road into a local landmark.
JOHN OXIAN: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
III. REGULAR BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — (March 21, 2005)
LYNN PATRICK: I move that these minutes be accepted with the following correction:
Mary Jane Chase should be added to the members absent list; because, she was unable
to attend last month's meeting.
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: Seconds the motion and it passes. John Oxian abstains.
B. TREASURER'S REPORT
JOHN OXIAN: (Refer to white copy of treasurer's report in meeting packet). John
stated that the only new item that was not on the treasurer's report was a $6,000.00 dollar
pay increase for Julie Schutte, which has not been approved yet by the County Council.
This amount is part of the $25,000.00 dollars given to HPC by the city. Mayor Steve
Luecke recommended to the County Commissioners that this amount be given to the
assistant director.
C. COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. President's Report
LYNN PATRICK: (No Report At This Time)
2. SouthHold Awards Committee
LYNN PATRICK: We are supposed to receive a schematic of the table setup for the
awards dinner. We are moving forward on getting our vendors. We are going to have a
Southhold Awards Committee meeting tomorrow night at 5:00 at the HPC office to
discuss the matter further.
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: We have the invitations ordered. They should be
coming in this week and they should be going out this week. We have the contract and
invoice for the speaker, Mr. William Tippens. I have everything else in motion as far as
getting the deposit for Masterpiece Creations at the Palais Royale for the breakfast.
JULIE SCHUTTE: We also have several nominations for awards which the committee
needs to look over and review.
LYNN PATRICK: We will look over the nominations when we get together for
tomorrow night's meeting.
3. Chapin Park Standards/Historic Districts Report
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: On March 30th we met with the people of Chapin Park
at the NNN. People who were at the meeting were John Livingston, Gerald Ujdak,
Martha Choitz, Julie Schutte and myself, plus a number of people from Chapin Park
Standards Committee. What they want to do is more than just tweak the standards. We
have some issues with them now because they want to change the name of the standards
from guidelines to regulations. They are going way over board on this after we cautioned
them not to. So, we are going to be working with them a little bit more closely. They
have a meeting again tomorrow night. I have given John a copy of what I have received
from their committee meeting last week that we weren't invited to. I have talked to one
