JOSEPH COUNTY <br />MONTHLY MEETING <br />February 28, 2005 7`h Floor, County -City Building <br />South Bend, IN <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Lynn Patrick, John Oxian, Mary Jane Chase, <br />Diane Wrobel-Illes, Joann Sporleder, Catherine <br />Hostetler <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Gerald Ujdak, Martha Choitz <br />STAFF PRESENT: Catherine Hostetler, Director <br />Julie Schutte, Assistant Director <br />Cheryl Greene, City Attorney <br />STAFF ABSENT: John Livingston, City Attorney <br />ALSO PRESENT: Philip Hesch, (attorney), Don Sporleder <br />I. CALLED MEETING TO ORDER <br />LYNN PATRICK: Called the meeting to order at 7:34 pm with a Roll Call <br />I would like to ask for a motion to amend the agenda for the following item; to include <br />under the landmark section, after the staff report, the first reading landmark revocations <br />petition for 68286 Miami Road, the George Seifer farm house. <br />CATHERINE HOSTETLER: So moved. <br />MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes. Joann Sporleder opposes the <br />motion. John Oxian abstains. <br />II. PUBLIC HEARING <br />A. CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />1. 2005-0116(b); 1069 Riverside Drive <br />CATHERINE HOSTETLER: (See staff report and pictures attached to C of A). The <br />homeowner, Christopher Hartz was not present. (He could be reached by phone if the <br />commission needed to ask any questions). <br />JOHN OXIAN: I will make a motion that the staff recommendation be approved for <br />application 2005-0116(b). <br />MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion. <br />JOHN OXIAN: Amends his earlier motion to include that they can either put in what is <br />there now or go back to a single pane window. <br />The motion passes unanimously. <br />B. LANDMARK — Follow-up on 68286 Miami Mr. and Mrs. Roeder <br />Landmark letters: 414 N. Ironwood and St Pauls Lutheran Church <br />Cemetery on New Road <br />CATHERINE HOSTETLER: There is a copy of the follow-up staff report in your <br />meeting packets regarding the property located at 68286 Miami. Mr. and Mrs. Roeder <br />met with Joann Sporleder, Don Sporleder, and Julie Schutte. The meeting was held on <br />February 17`h. <br />JULIE SCHUTTE: We met with the Roeders to discuss the possibility of an addition to <br />the back of the house to fulfill the desires of the owners to have a larger kitchen and first <br />floor bathroom and still be able to retain as much of the form and structural elements of <br />the historic house as possible. Joann Sporleder and Don Sporleder came up with the <br />reasonable solution to create an addition off one of the rear gabled wings of the house by <br />
