DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />August 2005 <br />July 20 Meeting concerning landmarking of Banc on Adams Road with Lynn PatrickJuGe <br />Schutte, John Livingston, John Oxian, Jerry Ujdak, Ed Hardig, attorney for Mr <br />Sicradzki, owner, and Tim Janowiak, interested party, concerning possible <br />adaptive reuse. Committee decided on Tim investigating three courses of action <br />with real estate agent, Bobbi: sell the lot intact, sell with only the barn designated <br />historic, move the barn. Tim was also advised verbally and via fax and phone as to <br />the benefits of a petition for saving the Barn. <br />South Bend Tribune article on July 31 spurred interest from Michiana area <br />residents ranging from moral support, to offers of purchasing and moving the barn <br />to Michigan or another part of St. Joseph County. <br />July 22 Meeting with Chris Manley of CamLar concerning the printing costs of the Chapin <br />Park Brochures. It was decided after canvassing the commissioners with the cost <br />breakdown that the numbered lines in the text was too expensive. The additional <br />editing would add about $1,400.00 to the cost in addition to the printing costs. <br />July 29 Submitted 2006 budget with 7% reduction in expenses as requested. HPC was one <br />of only three departments to comply. <br />August 1 Arranged for Bev Petersen as a contract worker to research 171 houses in Chapin <br />Park that do not have histories. Bev is a professional genealogist and is being paid <br />$20.00 per hour. She is also untangling some Chapin family history. <br />August 3 Met with Mike Eby concerning the budget for 2006 and the addition of line items <br />in HPC's budget for income /revenue from the City of South Bend and Southhold <br />lands and also a pass through line item for the Navarre Cabin Grant the HPC is <br />sponsoring as a CLG for the Northern Indiana Center for History. <br />Mike and John Lentz will meet with me after the budget process for the County is <br />completed (vote is on 9/13) in the middle of September to set up these line items. <br />August 5 The first stage of the office expansion commenced. The doorway has been cut <br />through and the wallboard is up. This will increase our space by 50% and give the <br />HPC a Library/Conference Room. This will create more space for the staff in the <br />original office space. <br />August $ Attended Funeral Mass for John Livingston with stafF and commissioners. <br />August 10 Secured the Palais Royale for April 29, 2006 with signed contracts and $400.00 <br />deposit. Faxed Reimbursement reports on County and City Survey Grants to <br />DHPA. <br />August 11 Mailed signed and notarized Covenant for Navarre Cabin to DHPA . Spoke at <br />IGwanis Club meeting on HPC and Historic Preservation in South Bend. <br />
