4. Southhold Awards 2005
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: We have secured and made a deposit for the use of the Palais Royal
for May 21St. We are going to be calling a committee meeting on this. I have estimates for the
invitations; hold the date cards, and response cards, and also the menu. This year I do believe we are
going to be charging for the breakfast, a nominal fee, to help defray the expenses. We still need to
get a speaker, so Southhold Awards Committee needs to kick into action at the end of this year or by
the beginning of next year at the very latest.
5. Policies and Procedures of HPC from July 2004
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: John requested that the policies and procedures of the HPC from July
2004 be included under this portion of the meeting.
JOHN OXIAN: You have already given your tentative approval for this, and now I would like to
have your official approval for the final copy that all of you have reviewed and given your input for
so that I can put this into the Preservation Plan as well. I would also like to change the title to read
Streamline HPC Commission Meetings and Operation.
GERRY UJDAK: I move that we adopt this set up procedures and policies and that it be included in
the Preservation Plan.
MARY JANE CHASE: Seconds the motion and it passes unanimously.
V. NEW BUSINESS.
1. 2005 Budget Process
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: The budget process is moving forward. In order to get the legal
announcement notices to the department of the South Bend Tribune I am going to need to ask for
meeting dates. We have got two exceptions at the beginning of the year. Martin Luther King Day is
January 17th and Presidents day is the 21St. If you decide on when you would want to have those two
meetings I can do two things to get that list to the tribune staff and also give that to Patty Godsey so
that we can try to reserve this room for next year.
2. Taskforce — Old House Journal Article
CATHERINE HOSTETLER: There was an article in the Old House Journal called Recycle, Train,
and Save. I wanted to get the approval of the commission to pursue the development of this type of
program in the city of South Bend and the South Bend Community School Corporation to be a joint
effort between Historic Preservation, Historic Landmarks, South Bend Heritage, and the Near
Northwest Neighborhood Association. The Commission gave Catherine their approval to proceed
with this project.
ro
