} <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFIATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Date: October 28, 2004 <br />Application Number: 2004-1028 <br />Property Location: 742 Sancome <br />Property Owner: Kathy and John Oxian <br />Landmark Designation: Local Landmark/Zeitler House <br />Rating: S/11 <br />This is an American Foursquare House, designed and built in 1912 by architect Jonathan Nelson. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Proposed work description concerns two Silver Maples and a Sierra Elm in the <br />yard. The applicant wants to cut down the Silver Maple tree in the back yard and grind out the stump and <br />trim off all of the dead branches that are on the Silver Maple in the side yard. They also want to cut down <br />the Sierra Elm tree near the fence and grind out the stump. The applicant met with Brent Thompson, City <br />Forester. His opinion is included along with pictures by HPC Inspector, Wayne Doolittle. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Given the context of the City Forester's letter and the nature of Silver <br />Maples growth/deterioration cycle, staff recommends approval for the removal of the Silver Maple and <br />the trimming of the other. Staff also recommends approval for the removal of the Sierra Elm along the <br />fence. <br />
