Though the rehabilitation of the garden house would be the optimum choice to maintain the design of the
garden, staff sadly recommends approval of the request to demolish the existing garden house. The
photographs taken recently should well document the construction of the existing garden shed and its
location on Dushane Court for research purposes of future owners.
Staff recommends that the Commission could approve a new garden house with the same
dimensions and roof slope. As the current owners have spent a substantial amount of money on the
main house and other garden elements, the date of the re -construction of a garden house should be left to
the owners' budget coordination and discretion.
Though staff would first recommend the removal of the entire fence, the taming of the overgrown bushes
and the use of a security camera to deter thieves in place of the fence, the fence has stood for at least ten
years and the owners have no desire to remove it. Without the existing garden house, the fence will have
a large hole. A new garden house could be constructed just in front of the fence. Staff recommends
approval of the installation of matching wood fencing material that will weather in time to fill the
gap in the existing fence.
