As legislation, environmental concerns and escalating operating costs heighten the need for more economical lighting
solutions, color breakthroughs in High Intensity Discharge (HID) technology have brought the benefits of peak
efficiencies, prodigious light output and extremely long life to applications to the outdoor applications for which HID
sources are required.
ITEM 'B'- LAMP TYPE SOURCES
The three types of light sources are as follows:
Metal Halide: These lamps display cool white light, high efficiencies and excellent color rendering properties. The two
types of lamps for this report are both rated at 175 watts. The difference between the two are one is clear and the other
is a phosphor coated lamp.
Hieh Pressure Sodium: These lamps display golden yellow light, outstanding efficiencies and long life. The two types
of lamps for this report are both rated at 150 watts. High pressure sodium lamps are not available at 175 watts. These
lamps can be obtained in various ranges of CRI. The two listed for this report are not standard type lamps. These lamps
will have to be ordered with an "improved color rendering" rating for the better CRI.
Induction: Invented in 1991, this electrodeless system features and extraordinary 100,000 -hour life or 12 years of
continuous operation along with tool -free replacement ease. The lamp listed for this report is rated at 165 watts. With
an 80+ CRI rating and. CCT rated at 3000, this lamp is an extremely good choice for this application. The price for this
unit is three times the normal average price of a high pressure sodium lamp but for the quantity of lamps for this project
and lamp life, the pay -back is within two years of time.
ITEM 'C'— LAMP SPECIFICATION AND COLOR TEMPERATURE CHARTS
Lamp Type
Lamp
Description
Lamp Catalog #
Lumen Output -
Means
Lumen Output -
Initial
Lamp Base
Color
Temperature
Color Rendering
Index (CRI)
Rated Aug.
