III. REGULAR BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
(September 29.2003 — not completed)
(February 23, 2004 — not completed)
B. TREASURER'S REPORT
(None to report at this time)
C. HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMITTEE REPORT
1. St. Casimir district project; proposed redevelopment standards
GERALD UJDAK: I had a meeting a week ago with a few people from the district,
Marco Mariani from Community Development, and Mike Divinta. They more or less
went over the plans for St. Casimir, which at this time are extremely limited. There has
been a hundred and eight thousand dollars budgeted for sidewalks, curbs, etc. The city
will decide where they will go.
They have targeted five blocks of Dunham Street as the target block. It is near
the middle of the district. For those of you who are not aware, that is an east -west street.
It is a very narrow brick street, that is not filled with homes anymore; because, some
homes have been taken down. Fifty thousand dollars has also been budgeted for the
purchase of one of these homes for an eventual removal or some sort of fixing.
I am not convinced that redevelopment or community development really has a
complete master plan. If they do have one then they have not shared it with us yet. This
meeting was basically to discuss the first phase of this, which would be for the year 2004.
Plans for 2005 are still up in the air at this point.
JULIE SCHUTTE: They do have funding until July of 2004 for certain home
improvement projects. They will also have funding for street improvements and
landscape improvements.
GERRY UJDAK: The home improvement project was not mentioned at this meeting.
JULIE SCHUTTE: At their earlier meeting, they listed their grant cycles, and one of the
grant cycles was in July 2005.
GERALD UJDAK: How much money is going to be available?
JULIE SCHUTTE: Fifty to a hundred thousand dollars.
5
