3. 2004-0131; 1322 East Wayne Street north; remove
aluminum storm windows and original wood windows,
replace with Pella windows.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: (See staff report attached to C of A). The homeowner,
Robert Wolosin, and his contractor, Gary Derbin, from Derbin Riverside Construction
Company, were present.
ROBERT WOLOSIN: We have asked Mr. Derbin to replace our downstairs double -
hung windows with new Pella windows. We did the same thing upstairs in our bedroom
last August. We received approval to replace that window, and now we would like
approval to replace these windows as well.
GERALD UJDAK: Are you going to use double -hung windows?
ROBERT WOLOSIN: Yes.
JOHN OXIAN: How many of your original windows, besides the front windows, of that
smaller style window will be left then?
ROBERT WOLOSIN: None, we are doing all of them.
LYNN PATRICK: Have you tried to restore any of the original windows that are there
now?
GARY DERBIN: Nobody asked me to restore the old windows, so I didn't; I threw them
away. The new windows that we plan to install will closely resemble what is there now;
because, several years ago they installed aluminum storm windows on the house.
These new windows are custom sized to fit the original windows that are there
now. There is nothing unusual or historical about these windows. They are a very
common style window. There is no design that would be involved in these windows that
would be altered in any way.
GERALD UJDAK: Are you planning on replacing the whole window?
GARY DERBIN: Yes we are.
JOHN OXIAN: Is there trim in the windows?
GARY DERBIN: We plan to use the wood trim that is there now; because, I am having
them custom built to be exactly the same size as the original windows.
JOHN OXIAN: My recommendation is that you wrap and store at least one of the
original windows in the garage, so that the owners will have an example of what the
original windows looked like
