South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - March 7, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued....
their projects.
Ms. Kolata noted that the dollar amount
for the sale of the land and the
responsibility that falls back to the
Commission are different. The exposure
to the Commission in one case is capped
and in the other case it is not. She noted
that it's not as clear, regarding the capped
proposal, that the amount of cash coming
to the Commission would be acceptable
to the Commission.
Ms. Schwartz noted that to her
understanding, the developers are
proposing to construct a Social Security
Administration building and that she
would like to see the construction of
another building on the proposed site
within three years. Due to the location of
the site and the fact that it would be
directly across from the Transpo center,
the proposed project would greatly
enhance this particular entry into
downtown South Bend. She noted that
any design should be of a high quality
urban design and to her understanding
both developers would follow through
with a high quality urban design which
would be complimentary to the Transpo
center.
She noted that to her understanding, the
General Services Administration building
is 13,000 sf and the second building
should be, if not close to the square
footage of the General Services
H:\ HOME \CPHWPS \WPDATA \COMMSN\030797.MIN -7-
