Condensation -Resistance Factor: Provide aluminum windows tested for thermal performance <br />according to AAMA 1503, showing a CRF of not less than 56, where windows are indicated to <br />be "thermally improved," <br />D. Thermal Transmittance: Provide aluminum windows with a whole -window U -value maximum <br />indicated at 15 -mph (24 -km/h) exterior wind velocity and wintercondition temperatures <br />when tested according to AAMA 1503. <br />1. U -Value: Not more than 0.64 Btu/sq. ft. x h x deg F (W/sq. m x K). <br />E. Thermal Movements: Provide aluminum windows, including anchorage, that accommodate <br />thermal movements of units resulting from the following maximum change (range) in ambient <br />and surface temperatures without buckling, distortion, opening of joints, failure of joint <br />sealants, damaging loads and stresses on glazing and connections, and other detrimental <br />effects. Base engineering calculation on actual surface temperatures of materials due to solar <br />heat gain and nighttime -sky heat loss. <br />1. Temperature Change (Range): 120 deg F (67 deg C), ambient; 180 deg F (100 deg C) <br />material surfaces. <br />1.5 HISTORICAL PRESERVATION DESIGN REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Jefferson Intermediate Center is a Historical Building on the register of the Historic Preservation <br />Commission of South Bend St St. Joseph County. The intent of the design is to match the sizes, <br />profiles, and configuration of existing windows and components (frame, sash, casing, brick <br />molding, muntins, and square inches of daylight opening) as closely as possible. Setback of <br />new window frames from face of existing brick should be the same as the setback of the <br />existing wood windows. Daylight opening of new windows should be within 2% of daylight <br />opening of existing windows, New metal window panning should be profiled to match the <br />profiles of existing wood window casing and trim members. Window manufacturer and <br />installation contractor shall be experienced in window replacement on buildings with historical <br />preservation requirements. Contractor will be required to provide documentation <br />demonstrating past performance of historical preservation window replacement jobs upon <br />award of contract, CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS OF <br />PROPOSED WINDOW SYSTEM WITH THEIR BID- THIS IS A REQUIRED PART OF THE BIDDING <br />DOCUMENTS AND WILL BE USED TO EVALUATE QUALIFIED BIDDERS. BIDS NOT <br />ACCOMPANIED BY SHOP DRAWINGS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR AWARD OF <br />CONTRACT, <br />1,6 SUBMITTALS <br />A.
