•
Page 2
Jerry Kline
On Friday, September 19, in the early afternoon, Mrs. Sheets' contractor, L.L. Geans, at last
came into our office with a Certificate of Appropriateness. I have not had a chance to read it yet.
Our Assistant Director has taken some photographs of the site, and we both, with the Standards &
Maintenance Committee, will review it in detail as soon as we can, and will give it the same
consideration that we would have given it if it had been honestly and straightforwardly presented in a
timely fashion, before the work began.
It will be heard at our next monthly meeting on October 20, 2003.
While it is clear that there is some deceit and subterfuge here, and an effort, at first, to evade
the normal review required in any neighborhood, let alone a historic district, we have no way of
knowing by whom that subterfuge was instigated, and so we will simply treat all parties, including
Mrs. Sheets, as if they were the honest ones, in the hope and expectation that there will be nothing but
straight forward behavior from all parties here forward.
Yours,
Karen R. Hammond -Nash,
Director
C: Building Department
Mrs. Sheets
L.L. Geans
J. Oxian
Standards Committee
