HEARING OF VISITORS
10. 2003-1001-3; 1425 East Wayne Street South; replace twenty-two
existing wooden storm windows with aluminum storm/screen
combination windows.
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: (Mr. Niebur's contractor), for some reason I was left off of the
agenda this evening. I did have my application in on October 1St. I was staff approved for some
parts of that particular application; however, I was left off of the public hearing for final
approval. We have also included a photograph of the house.
JOHN OXIAN: So which windows are you replacing?
GARY VAN OVERBERGHE: We are not replacing any of the windows. We just want to
install aluminumstorm windows to the exterior of the house.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: It specifically states here, (refer to C of A), that the house had
original wood storm windows. When Mr. Van Overberghe first discussed this with me, he had
already done some work to try and see if the original wood storm windows could in fact be
repaired and made weather -tight.
He also consulted with Ron Zmyslo, of Historic Landmarks Foundation, in Indianapolis,
and after a considerable amount of work and consultation had been done they, came to the
conclusion that the repair and restoration of the wood frame storm windows would not in fact be
possible. It was only after they had come to this conclusion, that they then decided the next best
alternative would be the installation of aluminum storm windows.
11
