BILL NO. ORDINANCE NO. 8.3s5-" 93 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $566,447 FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND DESIGNATED SUBGRANTEE AGENCIES FOR THE PROGRAM YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1993, TO BE ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. Statement of Purpose and Intent: The government of the City of South Bend, in partnership with the City' s private sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the "quality of life" in the City, its neighborhoods, and for its residents. As part of this commitment to a comprehensive community development and improvement program, the City of South Bend through its Department of Economic Development anticipates receiving, for Program Year 1993, approval from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to expend an additional $434, 000 in the execution of certain housing rehabilitation/assistance, public improvement, neighborhood development, and public service activities. In addition, the City through the Department of Economic Development has received $107,447 in excess program income from 1992 activities, and is projecting an additional $25,000 in current year program income, all of which will be used for these activities. In order to implement the aforementioned activities, funds are required. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The sum of $566,447 is hereby appropriated for the program year starting January 1, 1993, from the City of South Bend' s Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program Year 1993) . The appropriation shall be used as approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title Twenty-four (24) of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Community Development Program Year 1993 .
