Dear Historic Preservation Commission Members, May 6, 2002
The River Park Neighborhood Association would like to request that
the buildings that include the addresses; .3021, 3023, 3025, 3027, and 3015,
3013, 30112 3007 on the North side, of Mishawaka Ave. be considered for
Local Landmark Status. The buildings on this block have beautiful, decorative
architecture that take you back to a simpler time in our history. They add to
the quaintness of Mishawaka Ave. and allow people in the community to
enjoy seeing older structures that were quite splendid in their day. These
buildings continue to be useful in our community and their appearance adds
some of our heritage to the area.
We believe that the buildings we are requesting Landmark Status for
have been a valuable part of the River Park Neighborhood's history. Different
businesses have been housed in these buildings over the years and their walls
hold many memories of people who did business here. The buildings continue
to be a part of the River Park business area and are currently being used for a
variety of businesses.
The River Park Neighborhood Association's motto is, "Proud .of the
past, focused on the future". We would like to keep some of the most
significant buildings in our neighborhood for future generations to enjoy and
these buildings are at the top of our list. We would appreciate the
consideration for Landmark Status by your Commission and will do whatever
you ask of us to make these buildings into Local Landmarks.
Thank you for all of the work you do in our community making certain
that our historical buildings remain standing and that they may retain their
original design whenever possible. What you are now and have been doing
for many years is important to all of us.
Sincerely,
Janet A. Maciulski
RepTres ntative of the River Park
Neighborhood Association
