14.
David W. Thornton
620 East 4th Street
Mishawaka, IN 46544
April 26, 2002
John Oxian, President
Historic Preservation Commission of
South Bend and St. Joseph County
125 S. Lafayette Blvd.
South Bend, IN 46601
Dear Mr. Oxian:
I recently learned of the assistant director opening in the Historic Preservation Office.
Please accept my resume for consideration for this opportunity.
As my resume reflects, I have worked for Meridian Title Corp. for ten years, in various
capacities that all involved research and accuracy. Being recently downsized, I
accepted a position with St. Joseph County Assessor's Office. This position is
temporarily funded -through the property reassessment program currently underway in
St. Joseph County.
My greatest passion is history. I have a B.A. in history from Indiana University. I was
presented the History Book Award .by the faculty while attending I.U.S.B. My interest in
local history and the preservation of our past treasures has continued throughout my
life. I believe that -my background, interest and desire to learn more about the historic
preservation process would be beneficial to this position
Thank you for your consideration. I would like very much to meet with you and learn
more about this opportunity, and how I would be able to contribute. Please contact me
at home (574) 255-6894, or in the St: Joseph County Assessor's Office (574) 235-9523.
Sincerely,
w.T
David W. Thornton
