RECOMMENDATION
The Preservation Guidelines for Local Landmarks follow the Rehabilitation Model.
The owner wishes to replace all of the existing double -hung, wood windows with
new double -hung vinyl windows. All of the new windows would have the same light
divisions as the existing. The owner is also requesting new landscaping for the front and
side yard (see attached plan). The new landscaping will not require the removal of
anything; it only requires the planting of two trees, several bushes and various plants.
The staff finds that the proposed window replacement is with in the guidelines. The only
things on this house that are not cladded in vinyl siding are the window sashes and
various eave decorations. The windowsills and cases are all cladded in vinyl, thus, the
staff feels that going with vinyl windows is acceptable and recommends approval. The
staff also recommends approval of the landscape project; it will greatly increase the curb
appeal of the house with out causing any ill affects.
2
