In 1960 the building housed the offices of attorney F. Jay Nimtz. Nimtz was a <br />lifetime resident of South Bend. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941 and attained <br />the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was decorated by seven nations for his service during <br />World War II. Mr. Nimtz was a longtime civic leader and was elected to the U.S. <br />Congress in 1956. He was the president of South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />from 1974 until his death in 1990. Dr. Len Trevino purchased the building in 1994 and <br />sold it to the current owner, Tamara Sexton in 1999. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Preservation Guidelines for Local Landmarks follow the Rehabilitation Model. <br />Group B Standards <br />The applicant is requesting to install 200 lineal feet of 4 foot high chain link <br />fencing with four gates all with self closing hinges and latch to allow a safer play area for <br />the Toddle Time Daycare. <br />The staff finds the proposed rear yard chain link fence to be with in the guidelines <br />and thus recommends approva. <br />N <br />
