Lafayette, windows. 251 252 RHONDA SAUNDERS: I am going to waive the history regarding this property 253 since it was read in November. The architect is requesting change of the previously 254 approved replacement window because of budget constraints. The staff has three 255 concerns regarding the new, Pella, replacement windows, which I have gone over with 256 the architect, Mr. Arndt. The staff is concerned with the very skinny center divider, the 257 poor fit of the windows into the existing openings and the metallic gold coating on the 258 back of the blinds. 259 260 JOHN ARNDT: I am John Arndt with Hebard and Hebard, I am the project 261 architect. With me this evening is the construction manager, Tim Conley. Collectively 262 the bids for this project ran over budget. We are trying to cut some of the prime 263 contracts, one of which is windows. We are looking at the best window available based 264 on the dollars remaining for the project. After having inspected the window I agree with 265 the staff that the center vertical mullion is not a true replication of the existing windows. 266 This can be adjusted with regard to dissembling the four windows used in a unit and 267 reassembling them to contain a wider center mullion. The second issue addressed by the 268 staff was in regards to the windows fit. This window was installed very quickly by a 269 sales representative and not be a skilled craftsman. The main concern was to get the 270 window installed fast for review and will in no reflect the fit of the windows once 271 installed by professionals. In regards to the blinds the manufacturer does have a metallic 272 coating on the blinds for solar shading and sun reflecting. There are other standard 273 colors available if desired. 274 10
