Hammond -Nash Assistant Director RE: 1) SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY REGARDING NUNER 2) INVITATION FROM EDGEWATER NEIGHBORS 1) As most of you have read in the local paper and seen on the news, the School Corporation has decided to ignore both the Common Council's temporary landmark designation of the Old Nuner School, which was in effect for the 45 days from July 18 to September 1, and also the Interim Protection which our Commission placed on the building September 4. They are proceeding with their vandalism, and our Commission should be informed about legal options available to us in response. Actually, enough laws have been broken by the School Corporation, that the lawyers advising the Neighborhood Association and our staff are hard put to choose which of several legal theories to proceed upon. Clearly, the whole Commission should be involved in such decisions. The meeting will be: 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2001 County -City Building, 4` Floor Yes, that means Tuesday night fl! 2) On a more cheerful note, there is a new Neighborhood Association being formed in the Edgewater Historic District, and its new officers have invited each and all Historic Preservation Commission members to an introductory meeting. In case Lisa Gilman's name sounds familiar to you, and you are wondering why, she represents Cardinal Development, which has worked with Kil Architecture to restore other old or historic buildings, and which was one of the bidders for the Old Nuner School Building the last time it was up for bids.
