U^
onmu wind drift onto autos and pedestrians by
protecting ordiverting such traffic. When working
over traffic, clean only when hnMic is at a minimum
and protect carefully.
Surface Preparation
New brick and tile surfaces clean most effectively if
the cleaning is done within 14 to 28 days after
masonry installation. Mortar and grout smears that
remain UV the surface for a longer time result in B
more difficult demVdownand may cause undesirable
results. Wherever poeaib|e, clean high strength
mortar/grout within seven [Ddays.
NOTE: Presence n{excessive moisture in the wall
contributes to efflorescence and other staining.
Always protect open wall cavities from rain during
construction.
Surface &Air Temperatures
Best [Jean/n0 results are obtained when air and
masonry surface temperatures are 40"F (4"C) or
above. To avoid honn to masonry _ do Oct clean
masonry when temperatures are ba|owfreezing or
will be overnight. If freezing conditions exist prior to
p|io$Uon, allow adequate time for masonry to
Equipment
Apply with spray (50 psi or
Uensmly-peuhed, soft-fiberad masonry washing
brush. Rinse with high-pressure 400 psi spray.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
Before applying, read "Protect" in Preparation
section and "Precautionary Measures" under
Safety Information.
Pretesting
ALWAYS TEST each type of surface and stain
before overall application to ensure suitability and
desired results. Atost area (minimum 4 ft. by 4 ft.)
must becleaned before overall application hnensure
suitability and the desired results. Conduct test
areas uneach type ofmasonry and allow todry 3to
7days before inspection and approval bvthe project
architect and/or building owner. Clean test onams
according to the following application procedures.
Test panel should remain available for comparison
—Mroughout the cleaning project. If test panel
--iU|ootos metallic disco|omabon, or if stains are
present before testing, nah»r to "Metallic
O|soo|oraUona^be|ow.
Dilutions
Always pour cold water into empty bucket first, then
carefully add 600 Detergent. Y0enmr use hot water.
Handle in rubber or polyethylene buckets only.
Acidic materials and fumes will attack metal.
The following dilutions are based on 1 part 600
Detergent to recommended parts of water. Adjust
dilution rate based ontests.
Application Instructions —Exterior
Test thoroughly prior bJgeneral cleaning.
1. Thoroughly prevveta large area.
2. Using a dense|y-pgoked, soft-Obered masonry
washing brush, or low-pressure spray (50 psi
rnexinnun), apply the diluted solution freely.
3. Allow cleaning solution to remain on the wall for
3 t 5 minutes. Do not allow cleaner to dry into
the masonry because this may leave residue
and stain.
4. Reapply cleaning solution and scrape off heavy
buildup of excess mortar using a wooden
scraper or piece of bhck, taking can* not to
harm the masonry surface.
5. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, removing all
cleaning compounds, free sand, loose material
and debris. Thorough rinsing is artnorne|y
important to ensure that all residues any
removed from the porous masonry. High-
pressure rinsing equipment providing at |meet
4DUpsi with 4to8gallons per minute, will prove
most effective.
0. Reapply asrequired following steps 1through 5.
Caution: K8u|Up|e applications may lighten the
mortar color.
Do not apply Ssma Kleanw 600 Detergent with
pressure spray above 50 psi. Such application
will drive the chemicals deep into the surface,
making it difficult to completely rinse.
NOTE: To avoid streaking, keep the wall
surfaces below areas being cleaned vve1 and
rinsed free of cleaning residues with clean
water.
Application Instructions --Interior
Test thoroughly and follow preparatory work
procedures above.
Fmkmv cleaning procedure outlines for exterior
surfaces. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water using m
sponge oraoft'fibered brush. If conditions do not
aUuvv sufficient water for complete hnsing, use m
neutralizing rinse following this procedure:
1. First, rinse with clear water.
Page 2cd4
Item #10020
Sx60oo'/2289e
aCopyright pRosOoO.Inc. 1wsa
