A <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Monthly Meeting County Commissioner's <br />7:30 p.m. Conference Room <br />Monday, July 19, 1999 7th Floor County -City Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: John Oxian, Catherine Hostetler, Ron Zmylso, Adrian <br />Fine, Martha Choitz, Jerry Weiner and Joann Sporleder. <br />Commission staff present was: Ed Talley, director and Aladean DeRose, consul. <br />Also attending the meeting were: William Corbett, Pete DeKever, Rita Kopowski and Marco <br />Mariani <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificate of Appropriateness Applications <br />Mr. Oxian suspended the agenda so the Commission would first hear Certificates number two <br />through four, because of the length of application number one. <br />1. 1999-0708 - 962 Riverside Drive, Change roof on addition. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the owner, <br />William Corbett, was present. Mrs. Hostetler moved to approve the application as <br />recommended by staff. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion. Mr. Oxian asked if the roof would <br />be raised three degrees. Mr. Corbett stated that the roof would be raised no higher then three <br />degrees because of a door. The motion passed unanimously. <br />2. 1999-0709 - 16581 Chandler Drive, stone wall, wood trellis porch. <br />Mr. Talley presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He also noted that the owner, <br />Pete DeKever, was present. Mr. DeKever stated that the stone he wanted to use for the wall is <br />as close as he could find to fieldstone. There was some discussion over the original stone wall <br />that used to be next to the house at its original sight and how the new wall will replicate it. Mr. <br />Zmylso asked if any of the original stones from the old wall were in existence. Mr. DeKever <br />stated that the wall, unfortunately, was destroyed when the house was moved and most of the <br />stones were shattered and buried in the process. There was some discussion over how the wall <br />would be erected and the difference between the original porch and the proposed porch. Mr. <br />Fine moved to approve the application with the addition that raised mortar joint be used to <br />accurately replicate the majority of the details of the original terrace. <br />
