Review <br />The Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend & St. Joseph County has handled the following . <br />items of business during the past thirty days: . <br />Mailed Request For Proposals (RFP) concerning 1998 DHPA Grant <br />Completed and presented the 1999 DHPA Grant Application to the State Historic Preservation Office <br />(SHPO) <br />(The Narrative was completed by Adrian Fine) <br />Attended the Crown Point Seminar <br />Attended the Cornelius O'Brien Conference along with Commission President John Oxian <br />(Held in New Harmony and Evansville, Indiana) <br />Represented this Commission at the Indiana Historic Preservation Review Board <br />(There were 15 applications made to the State and National Register; all applications were approved) <br />Attended the Huggart Ceremony of Potato State Park <br />Organized an archeology dig (probing) for Leeper Park East <br />(Within the boundaries of the North Pump Station Project. The dig will be conducted by the Archeology <br />Department of the Indiana University Campus at South Bend and will be executed over the weekend of October 23 <br />to 26) <br />Handled the Leeper Bridge traffic accident incident <br />(The Commission made the news regarding this story on television stations 16 & 22 and a front page story in the <br />South Bend Tribune) <br />Three-quarters of the Commission office has been re -organized by way of the, furniture. <br />(Several items were deemed to be obsolete by the St. Joseph County Commissioners and removed from the office <br />space. For the first time in twenty-five years the Director and Administrative Assistant have a computer on their <br />desk, replacing the typewriter. Both computers are also connected to a laser printer. <br />Painting of the window ledges has been approved by the County Commissioners, which will match their office <br />decor. <br />One office computer holding all form letters, etc. had its hard -drive crash. The Computer Department for St. <br />Joseph County was only able to save a few items. There was and is no back-up copies for any of the lost files. <br />The Director's telephone was replaced and covered under warranty, due to failure of the device.) <br />Request for a Ledger Printout of the Commission's accounts was submitted to the St. Joseph County <br />Auditor's office. <br />(You are presented a copy) <br />
