MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />Monthly Meeting County Commissioner's <br />7:30 p.m. Conference Room <br />Monday September 21, 1998 7th Floor County -City Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: Martha Choitz, John Oxian, Joann Sporleder, Catherine <br />Hostetler, Adrian Fine, Jerry Wiener, Ron Zmyslo and Janeanne Petrass. Mrs. Petrass arrived at <br />7:55pm. Commission staff present was: Ed Talley, acting director, Rhonda Saunders, <br />administrative assistant, and Aladean DeRose, consul. <br />Also attending the meeting were: Chris Michalos, Ann McFadden, Bill Lamie, Jed Eide and <br />Don Sporleder. <br />Mr. Oxian introduced Ron Zmyslo as a new member of the Historic Preservation Commission, <br />taking the place of John Borkowski as the County Council's Democratic appointee. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that the Executive Committee has nominated Ed Talley as acting director of <br />the Commission until January 1, 1999. He further noted that Mr. Talley took over the position <br />on Monday, September 15, 1998. Mr. Oxian nominated Mr. Talley as acting director. Mrs. <br />Choitz seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Oxian stated that Mr. Talley <br />would take a leave of absence from his position on the Board until January 1, 1999. <br />Mr. Oxian moved to nominate Adrian Fine as acting Secretary of the Commission while Mr. <br />Talley assumes the role of Director. Mrs. Hostetler seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that Mr. Zmyslo would become a member of the Standards & Maintenance <br />Committee. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificate of Appropriateness Applications <br />1. 1998-0818 - 1121 East Wayne - backyard patio. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that both of the applications for this property will be done first. Mr. Talley <br />presented the staff report and circulated photographs. He noted that the owner, Jed Eide, was <br />present. <br />
