Use simple and unadorned so it'would <br />I.' not compete with'the main entrance.,' Mr. Francis stated -that they are'v_ery = <br />pleased with the projects progress and that they would like to ,answer any <br />questions the Commission may have. <br />Mrs. Hickey -stated that there were a lot of competing needs for limited funds <br />between the restoration projects,,, the stage -house., the mechanical needs and <br />the Palais Royal Ballroom. 'Mrs. King, 'a fund raiser for .Morris 'Civic <br />Auditorium, stated that they have great had a response from the private sector <br />and that. they. are roughly $1,000,000.00 under their goal. Mr. Francis . <br />restated that they were proud of.the way the plans are turning out. Mr. Oxian <br />'asked if they were going to work on the Palais Royal at .the same time as the <br />Auditorium. Mrs.t, Hickey stated that the, Palais will probably come online,'_ <br />-four or five months after the Auditorium. Mr. Fine asked for clarification as <br />to what the earlier areas of concern were. Mr—Oxian stated that there really <br />-weren't any major issues . Mr._Duvall stated that he had,previously seen three <br />different sets of elevations and that the staff report was written based on <br />the last rendition -he had seen. Mr,. Duvall noted that he had wanted the back <br />'of,the 'building to be identifiable with the front_ of the building as one. <br />complete_ structure. He also noted that -they had been discussing the <br />possibility of scoring. There was some more'. discussion over the surface <br />treatment of the pre -cast cement. Mr. Fine asked what would be.put in.place, <br />of the sign board. Mr. Francis stated that they were planning to use some <br />type, of cement or plaster panel which would be painted to match 'the building. <br />Mr.. Oxian asked -how much the proposed three bay marquee is going to cost. <br />Mrs. Hickey stated that it is going to,cost $300,000.00. Mr: Oxian asked how <br />much:it would cost to make it a five bay marquee., Mrs. Hickey stated that it. <br />would cost $600,000.00. Mr. Fine stated that' the project -was a good one and <br />that. the. design was appropriate. Mr. Oxian thanked them for the presentation. <br />V. Announcements & Miscellaneous Matters <br />Mr. Oxian asked Mr. Duvall about proposing the Forbes Building, the Tailor's <br />` building and or the Credit'Union Building on Colfax as Landmarks. Mr. Duvall <br />stated that' the Tailor's. building would passin a minute. Mr. Fine suggest <br />having -the Singer Building Landmarked. Mr. Oxian stated that he was currently <br />going after the JMS Building and that.if Mr. Fine wanted to include'the Singer <br />Building then he would go after that too. Mr._' Oxian stated that Mr. Duvall - <br />should look into landmarking those buildings. There was some discussion over <br />the,tailor building. <br />IX._Adjournment <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. <br />4 <br />
