Mr. Oxian'stated that since the windows located under the front porch roof are . structural sound -then they should' be retained. Mrs. Sporleder'stated that if they were,retained then storm windows 'shouldbe placed over them because.their inefficiency."Mr. Oxian asked if Mrs:. Sporleder, was recommending that those windows be "replaced too. Mrs. Sporleder stated that.the best thing to do would be to allow Mr. Trevino to replace' all,of the window's, thus,.making,the house more energy efficient and livable: There was some discussion over how_ . the new windows would"make the house more livable. There was -some discussion over the process of moving the rear porch steps from the .-rear door ",to --the east 'side door- with out breaking. them. It was also discussed that if the steps should fall apart .in the move that a new set -of poured concrete steps should be allowed.to replace them. Mr. Oxian stated that he agreed with Mrs. Sporleder that ,a- screen/storm door should be placed 'over the east side rear porch door to help preserve it. Mrs. Sporleder moved -to approve the, application as submitted with the additional , recommendation that a screen/storm door be installed over the east side door of the enclosed back porch. Mrs. Choitz seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Oxian" stated -'that when Mr. Trevino was ready to install -the storm .door that he should 'show Mr. Duvall its design. 4). 1998-0605-2 - 1029 Riverside Drive, Skylight/vent Mr.=Duvall presented the staff report and, circulated photographs, noting that the -applicants, Joseph"Taschetta and Rolanda Hughes, were present. Mr. Talley asked the owners, if the end objection was to provide ventilation then why did . they want to install 'a skylight vent instead -of just' a vent. Ms: Hughes stated that'the objective was two fold: first to create more ventilation,_and second to gi-ve more light to a space they -hope to"make livable. Mr..Talley moved. to approve the application as recommended by.staff. Mrs.. Hostetler seconded the motion: Mr. Oxian asked for clarification as to where on the roof the skylight would go. He then noted that in .his own house he made the attic windows operable to allow more ventilation. Mr. Taschetta stated their attic windows are operable and that the attic still gets extremely hot. The motion passed unanimously. Mrs.'Sporleder noted that, in regards.to.1631 Lincolnway West, the recommended ,storm door may not -meet todays codes. Mr. Duvall concurred that it may be a problem and should be brought to the owners attention. 5). 1998-0608-2.-- 735 Bronson, Privacy fence Mr. Duvall presented the staff report, circulated photographs, "and noted that the owner; Mr.,Farr and the tenant, Mr. Jones, were present. Mr. Duvall also noted that'the fence was already under construction.with out a Certificate of Appropriate. . Mr. Farr asked if a window could be installed in the front side wall There a window had originally been, but, was covered over by the siding. Mr. Duvall stated that Mr. Farr would have to apply for the new window on a separate application.
