MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION- COMMISSION <br />`Regular Monthly"Meeting County Commissioner' -s <br />7:30_p.m.- Conference Room <br />Monday June 15, 1998; 7th Floor County -City Building <br />I. Call to Order <br />John Oxian, president of the commission, brought the meeting .to order at 7:30 <br />.p.m. ass -a committee of the whole in the`absence.of a quorum: <br />II. Roll Call <br />Commission members present were: Martha Choitz, Catherine Hostetler, Ed, <br />Talley, Jerry Weiner, Joann Sporleder, Janeanne Petrass & John Oxian. <br />Commission staff present 'was:'. David Duvall, director, Rhonda Saunders,' - <br />Administrative Assistant and Aladean DeRose, counsel: <br />Also attending the meeting were: Ron' 'Farr, Bob Jones, Michele Gel-fman, Ed <br />Trevino, Roberto Jarez, Joe Taschetta, Rolanda Hughes.and-Don Sporleder. <br />III. Public Hearing <br />A. Certificates of Appropriateness <br />1) 1998-0526 .- 619 Riverside Drive,_Lawn terraces <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs, noting that <br />the' applicant, Michele Gelfman, was present.. Mr. Oxian asked if Ms. Gelfman <br />had anything to add to the discussion. Ms. Gelfman reiterated that the over <br />all design of the existing terraces will remain the same and as much of the <br />existing flora as possible will _be.re"tained. Mrs. Choitz, asked if Ms. Gelfman <br />'had chosen, to install the gray colored cement blocks. Ms. Gelfman stated.that <br />she. -had s'electe'd the gray color, because it matched her house. Mrs. Hostetler,, <br />moved to approve the 'Application as recommended bythestaff: Mrs. Petrass <br />seconded the motion. The motion•passed unanimously. <br />2). 1998-0527-2 = 535 Riverside Drive, Aluminum storm windows -. <br />Mr. Duvall presented the staff report and circulated photographs, noting that <br />the applicant was not -present. Mr. Oxian stated that this house should'notbe <br />rated a contributing 10, because of;its aluminum siding. He further noted that <br />the -9taff should, go to the site and re -grade the house. There was some <br />discussion over what type of siding the house had and if it had this siding <br />when it was first rated. Mrs. Hostetler moved to- approve the -application as <br />recommended by staff. Mr. Talley seconded the motion. Mrs. Sporleder asked <br />- <br />if the motion meant that the owner` -,could choose between - a white finish or the <br />mill gray finish.for- the-storm..windows. Mr. -Duvall stated that because. -either_ <br />-color would- work in this situation, the owner should have the final choice. <br />Mrs. Choitz asked if the rest of the aluminum storm windows on the house. had: <br />•the mill gray finish. Mr. 'Duvall ..stated that' they did. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />page 1 <br />
