Endangered Historic Places -The National Trust is seeking nominations to the 1999 list of
America's 11 most endangered places. These nominations are due by 1-8-98. This community
certainly has some sites or structures which may qualify. Please put on your thinking caps and
be prepared to submit any combination which you might have. Thank you for pondering this
inquisitive response.
St. Joseph County Re -survey - The contract was signed with the Westerly Group and some
maps and data were transferred to them for the commencement of the re -survey of the county.
The first report, was received from them, and one report will follow on the 6th of every month.
This office was very pleased to have finally realized we had finally reached a first and ten
situation.
Season's Greetings - Rhonda and I would like to extend to each of you our best for the holiday
season. Rhonda seems to be in the spirit, while I have seen enough of these things for a lifetime;
besides they cost a lot of money, create a mess in the house to clean up and create a demand for
boxes to save the stuff for eleven months. I suppose this is one of those holiday things for
youngsters. So, as required by powers of eminent domain I have been swept up in this holiday
thing and now feel as if I have filled my requirements in expressing good wishes to you all. Next
we have this bunny holiday thing, right ?
Office Beautification Project -The office has been painted. The furniture has been re -arranged,
and we are closing out the year. Certain items will be sent to the County Archives for storage.
Projects for 1999 include: digitalizing files, cleaning files storage, preparing for spring
newsletter and one in the fall as well, layout and funding search for new handouts for districts,
etc., creation of a web site for the HPC and various other matters. It should be a fun -filled and
event filled year.
PAGE 4
