ORDINANCE NO. 15 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AMENDING ARTICLE 18 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO SET FEES FOR VEHICLE INSPECTIONS STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT I.C. 9-17-2-12 authorizes a police officer to inspect motor vehicles, semi-trailers, and recreational vehicles to verify the facts set forth in the application for a certificate of title for each vehicle. I.C. 9-22-3-15 requires an inspection of a vehicle by a police officer for the issuance of a title for a rebuilt salvage motor vehicle. Because the uniform application of charges for such services will allow the City to recover some or all of its costs of providing these services, it is in the best interest of the City to adopt the following fee schedule for title inspections. This Ordinance also amends subpart (d), of Section 2-210. That Section presently requires that all fees collected for records and services furnished by the South Bend Police Department be deposited to The South Bend Regional Police Academy Fund. (Fund 294). However, the fees collected would have greater impact and effect if they could be used for general and ongoing police training, which is the purpose and scope of the Law Enforcement Continuing Education Fund. (Fund 220). This Ordinance makes such a change in the use of funds derived by the Police Department from Section 2-210(a) of the South Bend Municipal Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE Tf ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend as follows: Section I.
