You <br />iodicmted thit, although this structure is in n -.ed of <br />much repair, i�. (�annot be torn t1pwn since it has been <br />li!oted in the National Hititorical Register. <br />On September 21^ I visited this building and perform(ed <br />the inspection. It is a two-story wood framed <br />structure, 20 feet wide * 30 feet lcmg' It leans <br />sevRra1 inches to the east' The y=cond -floor framinQ <br />conEsists of 2 u B joists %panning 20'~0" with an <br />average cap -icing of 30^. The roof and walls are not <br />adequately covered to protect from thp. weather' <br />If this structure is to be repaired, it mmst firqit be <br />t3traightened to nearly as plumb as possible and then <br />braced to stabilize it against wind loadis. Top/"mb <br />this building, I recommend tho use of temporary Utee1 <br />ro6r, and turnbuckles' Install two 1/2" dia. stee] rodw, <br />diagonally at the inside of vach end wall. Run one, <br />from !:he .inderside of the second floor at the 1 <br />diagonally down to the basm of the wL-st wall and the <br />other from the top of the east wall diagonally down to <br />the second floor at the west wall' <br />Attach the ends /)f theL;e four rodc�" with interior <br />turnburkle5., to 1/2" eye or clevjs bolts which are <br />attach=d to bolts into the wood +rame' -,hen tighten <br />t162 turnbuckles simultaneously until the building is <br />piumb~ Nwil 1 x 4 diagonal wood bracing mr-mbers to <br />each ownd *al] bvf/zre removing the steel rods. <br />The aecond floor frAming any live <br />loading and, therefor, should not be uumd for any <br />storago wh-at-ioevmr. Also, the walls and rop* need to <br />be; f�sheathed and sealmd as necemsary to protect from thm <br />woether. <br />
