Mr. Littrell pointed out the equipment is
currently owned by I&M, but I&M was looking for someone to take it over for
$1. He noted the city would prefer the Riverside Drive homeowners take over
responsibility. President
Oxian inquired if the concrete poles to be removed would be turned over to the
city or if I&M would keep them. Clarification was made on what light fixtures
were on top of the poles to be replaced. President Oxian stated his opinion
that the poles should be saved by the City for future use in other historic
districts and if any of the hooded 4 -sided lights were still extant they
should be salvaged as well. He asked that the motion include the directive to
save the poles and also for the retention of the cast iron pole at 916
Riverside Drive.
Commissioner Talley noted the neighborhood had restored many of the units on
the street and asked if it was possible for himself or other volunteers to
help insure the reconditioned luminaires are installed as historically
accurately as possible.
