CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAFF REPORT <br />PROPERTY -- 1077 Riverside Drive <br />South Bend, IN <br />OWNER -- Mary Hendriksen & Dwight King <br />DESIGNATION -- RSD - LHD <br />STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE /HISTORIC CONTEXT <br />The house at 1077 Riverside Drive was built c. 1925 for Hariette E. and Dora <br />I. Keller, sisters of Fred Keller. partner in the prominent real estate <br />company of Whitcomb and Keller. This Colonial Revival style house is rated <br />S 111 in the Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Survey and is considered in <br />excellent condition. <br />PROPOSED CHANGE <br />The owner proposes to plant a Dogwood bush or bush of similar size and type at <br />the Southeast corner of the house and to plant an Anthony Waterer Spirea or <br />shrub of similar size and type in front of the screened porch. <br />STANDARDS <br />New site work should be based upon actual knowledge of the past appearance of <br />the property found in photographs, drawings, and newspapers. New site work <br />should be appropriate to existing surrounding site elements in scale, type and <br />appearance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />These proposed changes are minor site amenities which meet the criteria set <br />forth in the standards.
