v <br />1115 Emerson Avenue <br />The clapboard -sided Bungalow at 1115 Emerson was built in <br />1924 for Fae and Ivan Seifert. The Seiferts purchased the lot in <br />1923 and mortgaged the property for $2500.00 the next year to <br />have the house constructed. Ivan was employed as a mechanic in <br />the early to mid -1920's. The couple moved elsewhere and used the <br />property for rental income by 1930. Tenants here included- <br />Crystal and Vernon Graham from 1930 to 1940, Gordon Keller for <br />the next.five years, followed by Viola and Clarence J. Calmus in <br />1945. <br />The Calmus family occupied the house into the 1970's, <br />probably_ as tenants. Clarence was employed as an engineer at the <br />Rendix Corporation. The couple's sons, Clarence Jr. and Howard <br />E., were both enlisted in the United States Army and listed as <br />occupants in the 1945 city directory. In 1950 Clarence Sr. worked <br />as a laborer at Oak Ridge Dairy before returning to engineering <br />at Utica Bend by 1960. He retired in 1960 and died four years <br />later. <br />Brent Harlow, a laborer at Kap Recapping, next owned the <br />house briefly in the mid -1970's. He and his wife then sold the <br />property to Greg Brownell, a Engineering 'Technician at Mario <br />Thonix Research, in ,lune, 1979.
