President Oxian reported his request that Staff call Commission members the day of a meeting to make sure there would be a quorum. C. Correspondence Mr. Duvall reported on a national conference held in Chicago March 30 -April 1 called Preserving the Recent Past. He noted it is close at hand and within driving distance for the Commissioners. D. Committee Reports 1. Budget & Finance No report. 2. Legal President Oxian reported on the Commission meeting held with the Common Council. Commissioner Hostetler, Mr. Duvall, Mrs. DeRose, and President Oxian were in attendance. President Oxian reported that Mrs. DeRose (lid most of the speaking. She spoke mostly of how the Commission operates and the COA process. President expressed he had asked that the Coimnission be allowed to make a presentation before the Council as other Department Heads. Fie said the Commission would be getting an invitation to do that soon. Commissioner Hostetler added she thought the Commission should get something together with slides -and do a nice short presentation. President Oxian noted five Council Members and their attorney were in attendance at the special meeting. President Oxian described how Mrs. DeRose had discussed the Laskowski case and how, now that a precedent was set, more procedures could be established to deal with situations like that. 4. Historic Districts Commissioner Choitz reported the Historic Districts Committee was meeting with the Lincolnway West Committee weekly to discuss Standards for the proposed district. She noted Standards would hopefully be done early in the new year.
