historicpreservation commission
on
of south bend and st. joseph county
ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING
south bend, indiana 46601 (219) 284-9798
M E M 0
To all members of the Historic Preservation Commission:
Our final Regular Monthly Meeting of 1993 is scheduled for Monday evening,
December 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the usual location. We have two major agenda
items for this meeting. The first of which is the C of A application to be
heard concerning the proposal for Central High School (Local Landmark) as
put forward by The Alexander Company of Madison, Wisconsin.
The second major agenda item concerns the Probst House at 520 East Colfax.
This building is the new home of the Northern Regional Office of Historic
Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. HLFI has nominated the house for the National
Register of Historic Places. A part of our obligation as a CLG is to review
National Register nominations and forward them with a recommendation to the
Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology in Indianapolis.
There will be extensive documentation for each of these agenda items. In
addition if you have not visited the Probst House you are strongly encouraged
to do so prior to the meeting. National Register elgibility rests on both
interior and exterior treatments. Please call HLFI-NRO Director Karen Kiemnec
at 232-4534 to set a time for your visit.
Thank you for your consideration.
Chip Frederick
HPC staff
