As a <br />the Director suggests that the HPC in 1993 <br />government -- especially the city -- to <br />staff. <br />The HPC can count 1992 as another successful year of preservation; a new <br />historic district, additional. landmarks and the successful implementation <br />of HPC policies overall show evidence of continued vitality. Interest in <br />historic preservation in the community remains high and there are many <br />important issues that need to be addressed in the coming year. Perhaps the <br />most important goal in the coming year should be to continue the effort to <br />educate the public -- both owners of properties affected by preservation <br />legislation and the general public -- who are often unclear about historic <br />preservation philosophy and intent. The staff believes that the <br />publications we will produce in 1993 -- along with continuing to be the <br />HPC's liaison with local government, private agencies and the general <br />public -- will facilitate this effort. <br />PC <br />
