toircpreservation commission <br />s <br />of south bend and st. joseph county <br />ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT <br />Job Descriution <br />Description: <br />ROOM 1123 COUNTY CITY BUILDING <br />south bend, indiana 46601 (219) 284-9798 <br />The Administrative Assistant assists the Director and the Commission in a broad <br />range of preservation activities and responsibilities under the direction of the <br />Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County, Indiana. <br />More specifically, the Administrative Assistant conducts the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness application process for Historic Districts and Landmarks; provides <br />the public technical information, including preservation techniques, grants, <br />programs, local procedures and related matters; assists the Director with grant <br />programs. The Administrative Assistant also assists the Director in the preparation <br />of Historic District, Local Landmark and National Register nominations. <br />The Administrative Assistant attends all Commission meetings and Committee meetings <br />at the Director's disgression. On various occasions the Administrative Assistant <br />will represent the Commission at affairs in the community, and will attend seminars, <br />workshops and conferences. The Administrative Assistant will also work in conjunction <br />with the Commission and at times may also be called upon to work with other city and/ <br />or county officials. <br />Educational Requirements: <br />The Administrative Assistant must possess a Master's degree or Bachelor's degree <br />in historic preservation, architecture, architectural history, or another closely <br />related field as defined by and subject to the ruling of the National Park Service <br />in 36 C.F.R. Part 61. <br />Required Skills: <br />Knowledge of American architectural styles and history; research and writing skills; <br />ability to communicate and work well with public; good organizational skills; clear <br />knowledge of architectural survey techniques. In addition a competency in IBM <br />compatible personal computing operations is highly desirable. <br />Additional Requirements: <br />Must have driver's license and vehicle. <br />Working Relationships: <br />0 Reports to the Director and members of the Historic Preservation Commission. <br />
