C of A (staff approvals)
No discussion.
2. Budget and Finance
a. Grant Application, 1993-1994
Mr. Holycross presented a Staff Report explaining his
intention to apply for funding to the Department of Natural
Resources, Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology
for monies to finance projects from July 1993 to June 1994.
He asked for HPC approval to apply for monies for four
projects: 1. publish a Design Guidelines Booklet; 2. publish
a National Register/ Local Historic district brochure; 3.
continue updating City Survey computer data -base; 4. set up a
County Survey computer data -base.
Mr. Oxian suggested that the staff apply to survey brick
streets in South Bend and wooded areas and wetlands in the
county.
Mr. Holycross responded that projects such as he suggested
would require additional staff and, especially in the case of
wooded areas and wetlands, he would need to contact the state
office and inquire whether or not projects such as these
would be considered for funding; the state will only finance
specific projects that fall within a range of needs that they
perceive as being most useful for state preservation
purposes.
Mrs. Choitz suggested that information about natural
resources could be found elsewhere since other agencies are
involved with such issues and are responsible for making such
surveys.
Mr. Holycross stated that he would be concerned the present=
staff did not have the necessary expertise for such a
project. He responded that he would contact the state office
the following day to make inquiries about such projects.
Mrs.'Dennan moved to approve the application for Rrant monies
to the Division of Historic Preservation as contained in the
staff report for the mrant period 1993 to 1994..Mrs. Petrass
61
