January 16, 1992 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />Mike Kahle <br />68286 Miami Road <br />Bremen,.IN 46506 <br />PROPOSAL <br />1. Remove 3 evergreen trees and various shrubs along west (front) <br />and south facades of house. <br />2. Reroof main house with 3 in 1 tab asphalt shingle. <br />3. Remove a 1/1 double hung sash in rear kitchen wing. Replace. <br />with clad swinging patio door (Wenco brand) <br />4. Removesealedstorm cellar entry located underneath said <br />window and install wood deck. <br />5. Remove existing rolling metal door and adjacent metal entry <br />door at south side of cinder block garage and replace with Clopay <br />door as per submitted spec (to fit entire masonry opening). <br />6. Remove .wood .panel entry door with 1/3 multi -pane glazing at <br />west side of cinder block garage and replace with new door., <br />7. -Demolish small wood, gable roofed outbuilding just east of <br />cinderblock garage. <br />8. Remove corrugated metal siding on large storage barn and <br />reside with contemporary counterpart. <br />STANDARDS <br />Group.B Standards: <br />B. Treatment <br />Treatment shall be defined as any change of surface <br />materials that will not alter' the style or original <br />form ... and may involve a change. that can potentially <br />enhance or detract from the character of the landmark. <br />The Commission should ,review -the proposed treatment for <br />character.and style .consistency with. the. original <br />;surface. <br />C.. Renovation.and Additions . <br />2—Construction and.Stvle - All work should be -done in <br />the architectural style and in a technique compatible <br />.with that of the original structure. <br />3. Materials - Additions and improvements involving any <br />new material in the landmark should be of the same <br />material as the original. It should the same size and <br />texture. <br />D. Demolition <br />Historic landmarks shall not be demolished. When a <br />landmark poses a threat to the public safety, and <br />demolition is the only alternative, documentation by <br />way of photographs, measured drawings, or other <br />descriptive methods should be made of both the exterior <br />and interior of the landmark. The person or agency <br />responsible for demolition of the landmark shall he <br />responsible for this documentation. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />
