i <br />She stated that John Lentz, <br />Deputy County Auditor', explained <br />that the County could not grant <br />the entire amount requested. At <br />the request of some of the Commission <br />members, Mrs. Dixon stated that <br />she would provide a written explanation <br />and graphs showing the sources and <br />amounts of revenues. <br />3. Legal <br />Ms. DeRose reported that she is in <br />the process of reviewing information <br />on maintenance standards provided her <br />by Mr. Oxian and Mr. Pastor. <br />4. Historic Districts <br />The Commission discussed the potential <br />boundaries of the district. The Staff <br />mentioned that Todd Zeiger of Historic <br />Landmarks Foundation and a resident of <br />'the.neighborhood, suggested a larger <br />_district than the one originally pro- <br />posed-. When asked Mr. Zeiger's motives, <br />Mrs. Dixon reported that there was a <br />great deal of.poor quality redevelopment <br />work being performed or stated to be <br />done, in that area. The Commission <br />discussed the potential to get involved <br />in "new design" review were. the area <br />declared a district. The Commission <br />requested that.two seperate maps be <br />drawn - one indicating the original <br />proposed boundary and one depicting <br />the proposed larger boundary area.. <br />These maps are to be mailed to members <br />prior to the next meeting. <br />The Commission 'discussed the '.iintent of <br />the Near Northwest Neighborhood (as <br />reported in the South Bend Tribune) <br />to make the area bounded by Lincolnway <br />West, William, Portage, California and <br />Harrison Streets, a local Historic <br />District- No action was taken at that <br />time. <br />5. Historic Landmarks <br />a. Colfax Theatre <br />The HPC Staff -reported, that the City is <br />considering the demolition of the Colfax <br />Theatre. After some discussion of the <br />matter, Mr..Welsheimer moved that a <br />committee be established to look into <br />the matter further; Mr. Newburn seconded; <br />motion approved. <br />
