Jay Nimtz <br />Janeanne Petrass <br />James Pastor - Survey Mgr. <br />ANNUAL REPORT - 1990 <br />In 1990, the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and <br />St. Joseph County provided preservation services to numerous <br />citizens and groups. The Commission offered advice and <br />information on such topics as: the National Register of Historic <br />Places, investment tax credits, facade easements, local landmark <br />and district designation, the Historic Sites and Structures <br />Inventory, the history of area buildings, the Secretary of the <br />Interior's Standards, restoration techniques, adaptive use of <br />historic structures, funding sources, the Main Street program, <br />and historic preservation legislation. The HPC received two <br />grants from the U.S. Department of the Interior and one from the <br />Community Block Grant fund. <br />In 1990, the Commission also welcomed Jean Dennen as the new <br />Mayoral appointment after Gina DeLaurelle's resignation in 1989, <br />and mourned the loss of one of its esteemed members, Mr. F. Jay <br />Nimtz, in December. <br />STAFF <br />- Lori Dixon assumed the position of Director in January <br />- James Pastor was promoted to the Survey Manager's position in <br />July. <br />- Suzanne Booker came on board as Secretary in April, and began <br />working as surveyor in September. <br />- Mary Wikman resigned from the commission staff in July. <br />- Leigh Booker was served notice in December. <br />- - Elaine Lawson served as part-time surveyor through the end of <br />the year. <br />- Fred Holycross was hired as Research Assistant as of December <br />1, 1990. <br />- Randy Strickler volunteered his research services to the <br />Commission. <br />- David Chapleau served as the City Attorney's representative <br />until his promotion, at which time Aladean DeRose was assigned to <br />represent the City Attorney at the HPC meetings. <br />- David Barncord volunteered his services as landscape <br />consultant to the Commission. <br />
