You will notice numbers in parenthesis next to some of the
bids. I have ranked the thpee'hlow bids for each part. You will also
notice that only two of the companies are in the top three on each part:
CBI/Graphics and Dolphin Photo Lab.
The top three bids are within $.50 of each other on Part I and the top two
are within the same range of each other on Part II. It makes no sense to go
with the third-place bid on Part II due to the $1.50 difference between the
2nd and 3rd bids. We could take low bid on Part I (CBI/Graphics) and low
bid on Part II (Dolphin Photo Lab), but the $.50 we would save on Part I
would be spent in driving to Mishawaka to deliver ah&.rdtrieve the film
(Round trip is approximately 10 miles @ $.24 per mile). Therefore, our
recommendation is as follows:
We recommend that Dolphin Photo Lab, 916 E. Wayne St., South Bend, IN, be
given the bids for both Parts I & II, at a total of $5.50 per roll and that
the Commission enter into a contract with them as soon as possible.
I am enclosing a ballot for your vote, along with a return envelope. By,con-
duetingo the(, votecobyomai (ii we will;:notuneed to wait for the next meeting to
enter into a contract with Dolphin. We would like to have as little
gap as possible between the end of the current contracts at the first of
the year and this new contract.
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this matter. I will expect all
ballots to be in by January 10th.
