Mrs. Choitz commented <br />that absentee landlords, of which this <br />district would be largely composed, seldom <br />show much interest in belonging to an <br />historic district. Mr. Oxian said this <br />problem could be countered by holding a <br />public hearing at which residents could <br />voice their concerns. <br />Mr. Oxian asked Mr. Pastor to find out who <br />were the property owners in the district, <br />and to do further work toward establishing <br />boundaries. Colfax Theatre. <br />Discussion on this matter involved whether or <br />not the monies being used to demolish the <br />theatre were federal funds or city funds. <br />Mrs. Dixon reported that John Carr had <br />advised her that, if the funds involved <br />were not federal, nothing could be done to <br />stop the demolition. Mrs. Sporleder suggested <br />writing to congressmen. Mrs. Dixon commended <br />Mrs. Steele for her help and support in <br />tracking proceedings on Colfax theatre. <br />c. Darden Bridge. <br />Mrs. Dixon briefly reminded the commission <br />that the bridge was, indeed, in a precarious <br />situation.
